Detailing Trends - Luminoso
Luminoso is a premium surface care (finish protection) product, used for detailing cars, motorcycles, trucks, rv's, caravans, boats and light aircraft. It removes lighter tar spots, insect residues, tree sap, environmental contaminants, oxidation (paintwork haze), as well as old wax and preservative layers. Luminoso gives a mirror-like, reflective shine to paintwork, with increased colour brightness and optical clarity. It leaves behind weather-proof (acrylic) sealant protection, which lasts for months. By means of nano-technology, the surface becomes much smoother (with an easy-to-clean effect), therefore sheeting water and preventing dirt and grime from sticking easily. Luminoso is suitable for all auto paint colours and finish types. It can also be applied to aviation or marine fibreglass gel coat, lacquer, chrome, aluminium, stainless steel, nickel, copper, glass, acryl glass, enamel, ceramics and non-porous plastics. Luminoso is anti-static, non-abrasive & solvent-free (environmentally-friendly).
Cleanser + Nano-Technology Acrylic Sealant; which Cleans, Shines, Conserves and Protects.
- Cleans contaminants from the surface, including lighter tar spots, insect residues, tree sap, old polish (sealant or wax) layers and microscopic dirt particles.
- Polishes the treated surface to a mirror-like, reflective shine with increased colour brightness and optical clarity, by removing oxidation (cloudiness and haze).
- Protects with a layer of nano formulated acrylic sealant that resists ultraviolet rays, acid rain, salt water, hot & cold weather conditions and industrial pollutants.
Neither Polish (abrasive) nor Wax (limited durability), but Gentle Cleaner + Acrylic Sealant.
- Non-abrasive ... Mild, yet effective ... Excellent for clear coat and water-based finishes.
- Easy-on, easy-off ... No heavy elbow grease or major polishing action required.
- Works on dry or damp surfaces ... Can even be processed in direct sunlight.
- Apply by hand (soft microfibre pad) or machine (foam polishing pad).
- Reduces the appearance of very fine (wash, fingernail) scratches.
- Increases surface hardness ... Scratch resistant protective seal.
- Threefold durability and temperature resistance than a wax.
- Leaves no white/grey stains on plastic and rubber trim.
- Water-based & Solvent-free ... Environmentally-friendly.
- 1000ml bottle will treat 20+ cars ... 1 Euro per vehicle!
Detailing Trends Luminoso can be applied by Hand or Dual Action (Machine) Polisher.
Hand Application: Apply to a clean (pre-washed) surface using a (pre-dampened, wring out excess water so it isn't wet) soft microfibre applicator pad (a soft foam pad will also suffice). Only a EURO coin sized amount of product is required for a 2 ft x 2 ft surface area. This should be wiped on, spread out (evenly) and gently worked into the finish (light pressure only). Ideally, use back and forth / straight-line polishing motions on horizontal panels (bonnet, roof) and up and down motions on vertical ones (doors, quarter panels). Work the product until only a very thin layer of residue remains or it starts to dry out. If you have a heavy film on the surface, you're using too much product or not working it in fully. So think "Less is More". The resulting film should then be allowed to dry out, for a period of 5 - 10 minutes. Once hazed over, product residue should be buffed off very carefully using a super plush microfibre buffing cloth. A quick detailing spray may also be used to help remove excess product / dried residue.
Note: At any stage if your applicator pad becomes too dry, soiled or caked with product, rinse out in clean fresh water, wring out excess and proceed from there.
Work in small sections, a panel or two at a time. Avoid treating the entire vehicle in one go, otherwise buffing may prove more difficult afterwards.
If your vehicle is older or has weathered paint conditions (dull or light to moderate oxidation), it will benefit from two applications of Luminoso. The first application used primarily for cleaning and the second one, to lay down more acrylic protection.
Dual Action (orbital, not rotary) Polisher: Apply with a foam polishing or glazing pad. Only 3 or 4 pea-sized drops of product are required per panel. These should be worked in thoroughly at speed 3 - 4 on most dual action machine polishers, until only a thin film remains. This film should be allowed to dry out for 5 - 10 minutes, then buffed off carefully using a super plush microfibre buffing cloth. A quick detailing spray may also be used to help remove same.
While Luminoso may be applied in direct sunlight, it is preferable (most user-friendly) to work in the shade and apply product to a cool surface only. The acrylic sealant bonds to treated surfaces within minutes, but requires a period of 24 hours, before it has fully cured to a durable protective coating.
